The man uses an axe to break down the door. An axe has been used because it is a more intimate weapon because you have to get quite close to the victim. However, the lady uses a knife the cut open the man's hand. A knife can be just as dangerous as an axe but because a knife is an everyday object it makes the danger of it seem more uncomfortable.
