Prop and Equipment List and Annotations
Prop and Equipment List
-Camera: we need something to shoot the short piece on
-Tripod: holds the camera where we want
-Camera battery: make sure we are fully charged whilst we shoot
-Memory card: to store our clips on
-Shooting schedule: so then we don't get lost on the way while we film
-Script: to ensure we know what to say and when to say it
-Tent: we use the tent as part of our location, we need to assemble the tent in order to create our setting
-Bags: the bags hold all of our belongings and are used to create tension (when we drop the bags)
-Torch: we will be shooting at night so it will be dark, the torch only creates a small amount of light, which will add to the ambience and will make the opening seem more eerie
-Whiteboard/Handmade Ouija board: we will use the 'Ouija board' to communicate with the other board and to make the supernatural part of our opening stand out
We have chosen to use the tent as our setting because its something different, you don't usually see a horror movie based on three school girls playing the Ouija board in a tent. This doesn't really conform to the 'rules' of a horror because most horrors are based inside a house. The torch is used to create an eerie lighting. Torches don't let out large amounts of light, the light from the torch can be used to highlight each character when talking. Many horrors include torches, they allow the characters to see what is exactly in front of them and then shortly after is usually a jump scare. The Ouija board is being used because not every supernatural horror has a Ouija board being used in it. The use of the board is what is typically used when trying to connect with the supernatural and demonic presences. Ouija boards definitely conform to supernatural horror films because they connect with the supernatural. All of the items we are using in our opening are essential.
Costume
Our costume consists of everyday clothing. Each character will have to wear jeans and a casual top which will show them distinctively between each other. Later on in the opening, we will be in different attire. We will be wearing warm clothing, to show that the weather has changed and to also show that the time of day has changed.
